It is necessary to make changes in your routine and keep a few things in mind once you get a dental implant surgery done. It takes time for the surgical site to heal, therefore, you must avoid certain foods and keep your mouth clean during that time.

Maintaining a dental hygiene is definitely essential in order to prevent oral problems from emerging. But apart from that, there are also some other measures which you should follow and must eat some foods after the surgery. We have mentioned some steps right below.

Very great staff, wonderful and engaging dentist. Great for kids, and was very informative of everything they were doing with my son

Don’t Exercise for a Few Days: Some of you might be used to exercising every morning, but don’t even think of doing so if you have recently got an implant surgery done. Doing this can cause a lot of discomfort as lifting weights or moving a lot may lead to bleeding and swelling. You should be on a complete bed rest on the very first day of the surgery.

Don’t Put Pressure on the Surgical Site: It is better not to disturb the surgical site at all until and unless the healing process comes to an end. Hence, do not eat from that side or else the area can swell and start paining.

Change Your Diet:  Eating foods that are rich in nutrients can help in reducing the healing period. Therefore, try having a lot of steamed broccoli, yogurt, salmon, tofu, mashed potatoes and so on. Remember not to have anything hard during that period. You must also avoid sticky and crunchy foods.

Don’t Drink Alcohol During the Healing Process:  This could lead to oral infection, thus don’t drink alcohol until and unless the surgical site heals completely. Drinking alcohol causes a lot of dental issues, therefore, it’s better to quit it for good.

Don’t Smoke Cigarettes:  Smoking after the surgery can hinder blood flow to your gum tissues and bone. And when that happens, it becomes difficult for the implant to fuse with the bone. Therefore, say not to cigarettes, quitting it would be good for your overall health.

Visit the Dental Office When Required:  Always consult a doctor if you think that something is wrong with your dental implants. He/she will be able to understand the problem and suggest you the right thing to do.
